The Blyde River Canyon, authoritatively the Motlatse Canyon is a noteworthy normal component of South Africa, situated in Mpumalanga, and framing the northern piece of the Drakensberg ledge. Situated in the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve, it is 25 kilometers (16 mi) long and is, by and large, around 750 meters (2,461 ft) profound. The Blyderivierpoort Dam, when full, is at an elevation of 665 meters (2,182 ft). The most elevated purpose of the gully, Mariepskop, is 1,944 meters (6,378 ft) above ocean level, while its absolute bottom where the stream leaves the ravine. This implies by some measure the gully is 1,383 meters (4,537 ft) profound.
